Warning: Cynicism, Bad Language, and Low Brow Prose

Dear Diary- To the 6 foot +, 190+, blond, blue eyed-I-come-late-to-class-Captain America looking-I-am-so-gorgeous-but-I-am-in-a-huge-mid-life-crisis-I-ride a motorcycle to BJJ-leather-jacket-wearing asshole, who thinks it's appropriate to slam your knee into my side and crank my neck; FUCK YOU. Now, my husband just asked, Do you really want to post that?  I said, Yes, yes I do.  Then he countered, but you can turn it into a good blog from there, talk about how you learned you can harness a certain amount of anger to be used well, that it was a more of a fight, not training, but THAT in itself is a learning experience... I so admire Allie the Clear Belt for being beautifully articulate when posting her anger and frustration, and I wish I had her patience right now for that kind of early morning glass water prose, but all I can muster at this moment is the gutter.  My husband is right, there was   an element of learning in this particular roll, but I am going to sleep on it and

Paleo Suggestions

I go through short cooking bursts every now and again, but I, actually we, (husband and I) am/are currently in a non -cooking burst.  Thus, I thought this would be a good time to share some low maintenance Paleo meals that do not require a lot of time. Kale and Swiss Chard, welcome to the stage. Kale Chips.  Spread out Kale on a large pan.  Pour Olive Oil in your hand (just a little), and lightly rub the oil on the Kale.  Sprinkle a touch of seasoning. Bake for 20 minutes at 350, or until the Kale is crispy.  I have not tried this with Swiss Chard, but I'm sure it would work just fine.    Kale/Swiss Chard with tuna.  Make your own mayo using two eggs and, heck, I'll say maybe an 1/4 cup of Olive Oil.  (I never measure).  Mix the tuna salad to your liking and serve it with Kale/Swiss Chard leaves and Sriracha sauce.  Use the fresh leaves as a wrap. Kale/Swiss Chard with beef.  Cook diced lean beef (or any other meat).  Serve with Kale/Swiss Chard leaves.  Again, use the fres

BJJ 4 LIFE: WOMEN'S ONLY BJJ CLASSES : "JANUARY 2011WOMEN'S ONLY BJJ CLASSESSUNDAY'S @ 10:00AM Grappler's Quest, Women's Advanced Absolute Champion, Michelle Welti &n..." I am not sure if I posted this before this already, but it's worth re-posting anyway for my sisters on the east side.

Dagney's Blog, The Gracie Issue

I survived!  No broken bones, and more importantly, no broken pride. As many of you know from my last post, I approached the Gracie Academy experience with a generous helping of trepidation hanging around my shoulders.  I believe one should always present with he most respectful self possible when entering a school as a guest.  As I walked up the understated driveway of the famed academy, I realized the entire weight of what my presence in this class meant to me. I wanted to make myself proud.  I'll be brutally honest here and unapologetically admit that I wanted to make an impression.  Heck yeah I wanted the instructor to say, or at least think, "yeah, she's got game." I wanted to make Fabio proud.  A poor roll would reflect badly on Fabio.  Unacceptable.  Just, so unacceptable. The protocols, oh the protocols!  Each school has their own methods.  I worried about haplessly making some garish faux pas.  Also unacceptable.  A misstep on my part, however accidental,

Happy New Year!

Happy 2011! I have not written in a few days and my brain is started to turn into a jangle tangle of a wrangle.  When I don't work out for a few days, my brain frys.  When I don't write for a few days, my brain frys....hmmm That pesky mind body connection is so annoying.  The mat that absorbs the malcontent demons and the keyboard builds a pathway for them to march back into the box from whence they came. Fabio has been closed for the past week and I am looking forward to rolling on Tuesday morning.  Time to bring it.  Then, Wednesday night, I gotta bring it. My sister started training at the Gracie Academy a couple of months ago, and she is completely hooked.  Well, she told her instructors I train with Fabio Santos, which apparently prompted a flurry of  "OHHH, Fabio!  Oh!! Tell her to come up here to train with us!!"  So Wednesday night, my husband and I are going to drive up my sister and brother-in-law's house to babysit my nephew on Thursday.  But Wed
